Money
Money is a publication that brings together a series of watercolor paintings of banknotes, originally presented in the exhibition of the same title by Tawan Wattuya. The book features his meticulous reproductions of currencies from different countries, tracing their histories through the imagery printed on them, and reflecting on how value is constructed, accumulated, and eroded through shifting social and political conditions. The art direction stems from a central question: how does paper come to accumulate value and assume the status of money? The use of a French fold—doubling each page—introduces a sense of weight and thickness to the book, subtly amplifying its physical presence. This gesture invites a reconsideration of currency’s perceived worth, positioning the book itself as an object that both embodies and questions value.
